Talents

Sona Hambardzumyan

accessories, fashion

In 2016, I began studying fashion design at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia. In parallel with my studies, I joined TUMO Studios in 2019 and have participated in seven ateliers so far. My favorite was the one in collaboration with the Duperré School in Paris, which, despite its short duration, has taught me a lot. In 2020, I left for a one-year study in France through the exchange program between TUMO Studios and Duperré School, where I am currently studying. After this, I will start transfer my knowledge to my peers at TUMO Studios .

Margarita Ghazaryan

embroidery

I was born in the village of Arshaluys in Armavir. In addition to being an artist, I am also a journalist. I first got acquainted with metalworking at TUMO Studios, while improving my embroidery skills, and I try to combine different branches of materials in my art. My source of inspiration is the stories of people from my village, and items that have been passed down from generation to generation in my family. In other words, everything that has a deep history. I try to transform those stories in order to bring them to life through my work.

Argine Torosyan

jewelry, accessories

I am a designer by trade and graduated from the Faculty of Interior and Exterior Design. I first learned about TUMO Studios and the crochet workshop held there a few years ago. This led me to change my specialization. Participating in various workshops organized by TUMO Studios gave me the opportunity to return to the world of design and crafts. I try to hone my craft and find new means of expression while trying to express what I love and what fascinates me. I am inspired by beauty. For me, beautiful colors, material, and the subject are a basis for inspiration and creation.

Abel Martirosyan

fashion, accessories

I am a fashion designer, stylist, and visual merchandiser. I started my journey with TUMO Studios about 2 years ago. My first atelier was on couture embroidery, which I really enjoyed. As I continued, I learned more advanced professional skills in capsule collection, where I created and collaborated with some of the best local designers. I also was able to attend an atelier with French fashion School École Dupperré, and an accessories design atelier with Reza Abedini.

Ophelia Azizyan

fashion, accessories

In 2017, I graduated from the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia with a degree in fashion design. Following that, I studied art history. In 2018, I visited TUMO Studios for the first time and discovered a knack for textile design and jewelry making. When I create a new design, I try to take as a basis something forgotten or unnoticed from Armenian culture and give it new life. It’s most important that I can use my knowledge of art history when I am creating new projects. I like the idea that young people learn something new about our culture through my design projects.

Lilit Ghazaryan

jewelry, product design

I am a product and jewelry designer. I studied product and interior design at university before continuing my educational journey in design at TUMO Studios. Having participated in more than 12 workshops gave me an opportunity to learn from leading global designers to create designs of my own. I love working with different materials, learning what they can do, how to use them, and making connections between shape, material, and color. When designing, I try to imagine the person wearing my design, what they like, and what kind of environment they live in.

Mariam Emeksizian

accessories, fashion

I received a bachelor’s degree from the Department of Architecture and Design at the French-German Higher Institute of Engineering in Armenia. While attending TUMO Studios’s workshops, I decided to get involved in fashion. Through an exchange program initiated by TUMO Studios, I am continuing my studies in the fashion department at École Duperré in Paris. I’ve always been interested in evolution, and wondered why people develop a taste for certain things. The key driver for me to create something is the human race and the world that surrounds us. I connect my interest in fashion and architecture for a similar purpose: to create context in the modern human story.

I have created several collections, as well as worked on collections in cooperation with different clothing brands. Alongside my work and my brand, I have continued my studies at TUMO Studios. I attended a workshop with École Duperré Paris in 2019, where I discovered a set of new tools, which were essential for my professional career. In July 2020, I was admitted to École Duperré Paris, where I am currently studying.

Liana Khatchatryan

jewelry

I’m interested in jewelry-making, pottery, eco-printing, and knitting. I am always ready to experiment and try new styles, and I like using my imagination to create innovative designs. I enjoy jewelry-making as I can transfer my emotions and thoughts into the material. Natural forms, such as flora and fauna, inspire me; I like to take them and transform them into minimalistic images and shapes.

Ani Petrosyan

ceramics

I have loved to create since I was a child. When I was 11, I began collecting wood, which I would use as a canvas on which I would paint. However, for the past five years, I have focused on pottery.  After being a participant in the Arabkir Youth House pottery group, I continued my studies at the Henrik Igityan National Center for Aesthetics, before continuing at the Open University Department of Fine Arts. Following graduation, I taught pottery to children with autism, which gave the kids an artistic outlet.
